Brambleberry Mulled Wine
A medley of strawberries, blueberries and dark sweet cherries are simmered in a mulled wine infused with warm spices of cinnamon, clove, ginger and cardamom.
Ingredients
20 each cloves, whole
4 each cinnamon sticks
2 Tbsp green cardamom pods, cracked
6 Tbsp ginger, whole, ⅛” slices
1.5 liters shiraz
3 cups apple cider
2 cups DOLE Whole Blackberries, puréed
2 cups Frozen DOLE Whole Blueberries
4 cups Frozen DOLE Dark Sweet Cherries
2 cups DOLE Chef-Ready Cuts Diced Strawberries
Directions
- In a large sauce pot, combine whole cloves, cinnamon sticks, green cardamom pods, ginger, Shiraz, apple cider and blackberry purée. Bring to a low simmer over low heat.
- Let mixture simmer for 10 minutes; remove from heat.
- In a large pitcher, add frozen blueberries, cherries and diced strawberries. Using a strainer, pour mulled wine over frozen berries to cool rapidly.
- Place beverage in refrigerator to cool completely.
- Pour 8-12 fl. oz. in a microwavable container.
- Warm 1-2 minutes on high; stir and serve.
