Sweet and Spicy Stromboli
A tantalizing combination of spicy Italian sausage, golden pineapple wedges and pickled jalapeno, wrapped in a flaky crust and served with marinara for dipping.
Ingredients
8 oz pizza dough, stretched into a rectangle
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
½ cup spicy Italian sausage, ground and browned
¾ cup DOLE Pineapple Tidbits in Light Syrup, drained
¼ cup pickled jalapeno slices
3 eggs, beaten
marinara sauce, as needed
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- With the base stretched out and ready, cover the entire base with all the toppings except the marinara, leaving a 1-inch border uncovered.
- Brush the 1-inch perimeter with the egg wash, then roll the dough into a log, pinching the ends together to seal it.
- Brush the top with more egg wash and make three slits on top with a knife to allow the steam to escape.
- Bake for 25 minutes and golden brown.
- Remove from oven and slice into 10-12 portioned pieces and serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
