Masala Beef & Pineapple Pizza

A savory pizza featuring masala beef, golden pineapple wedges and a spicy habanero pineapple hot sauce.

Masala Beef & Pineapple Pizza

Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef, 80/20

1 ½ Tbsp minced garlic

2 tsp minced ginger

½ tsp kosher salt, or to taste

2 serrano chilis, seeded and diced

¾ cup red onions, finely diced

1 Tbsp garam masala

¾ cup DOLE Tropical Gold Pineapple Pizza Wedges

(2) 10 oz pizza dough balls

optional mozzarella cheese, to cover

vegetable oil, as needed

3 Tbsp habanero hot sauce

1 Tbsp DOLE 100% Pineapple Juice

scallions, finely sliced, to garnish

Directions

Masala Beef Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450° F. Place beef, garlic, and ginger in a sauté pan over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  2. Once the beef fat begins to render, add salt, onions, serrano chilis, and garam masala, continuing stirring.
  3. Once the onions and chilis are tender, add the pineapple and continue to sauté for one minute. Taste beef mixture and adjust seasoning to taste. Remove from heat, drain fat from the pan, set aside.

Pizza Directions

  1. Using a rolling pin, roll out the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface, flipping and adding more flour to the work surface if the dough begins to stick. Roll the dough until it is about ¼-inch thick in the middle, rolling thinner towards the edges than the middle
  2. Scoop half the beef mixture into the middle of the dough. Gently fold the edges of the dough over the beef and crimp the edges together to lock the dough over the sides of the beef mixture.
  3. Heat a cast iron pan over medium heat. Once preheated add just enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Once the oil is hot, add the pizza directly into the pan and allow to cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle cheese, if using, directly over the middle of the pizza and place the cast iron pan into the preheated oven and allow to bake until golden brown.
  5. While the pizza bakes, mix the habanero hot sauce and pineapple juice, set aside.
  6. Once the pizza is golden brown, remove from the oven, slice into pieces and top with scallions. Serve hot alongside pineapple habanero hot sauce.
