Banana Sesame Borekas
A pastry of Middle Eastern origin filled with ricotta cheese and bananas.
Ingredients
2 eggs lightly beaten
1 cup farmers cheese or ricotta cheese
2 Tbsp tahini paste
2 cups DOLE Chef-Ready Cuts Sliced Bananas partially thawed
¼ cup honey
1-½ tsp ground cinnamon
2 pkg. (17.5 oz. each) frozen puff pastry thawed
sesame seeds untoasted
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Combine 1 egg, cheese, tahini paste, bananas, honey, and cinnamon; set aside.
- Divide puff pastry into 8 even squares. Place 2 to 3 tablespoons of filling in each square. Moisten half of the edges of the square with water and fold in half diagonally to form triangles. Seal edges together with a fork.
- Brush tops of pastries with second egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake 30 minutes or until golden brown.
