Bringing global flavors to K-12 menus is taking off with exotic dishes from across the globe. This year, visitors at SNA-ANC had a chance to to see Chef Jet Tila demo some delicious Asian-Inspired concepts including Korean BBQ Beef Tacos.

Chef Tila has visited several school districts in his career, and one insight he shared in an interview with School Nutrition Magazine is how menu diversity can impact students. He noticed that by offering meals that honored the ethnicity and culture of the diverse student body, it not only brought comfort to those that related to the dishes, but opened the eyes of those who were unfamiliar with the dish to a new type of cuisine.*

REDUCING FOOD WASTE
IN K-12 SCHOOLS

Looking for single-serve fruit solutions to help reduce food waste? At ANC 2019 we showed DOLE® Fruitocracy® and Fruit Bowls® in 100% Fruit Juice- each provide ½ cup serving of fruit and are shelf-stable.

Here are a few tips to help reduce food waste in schools.

  2. Offer shelf-stable fruit cups in place of fresh fruit for quicker distribution of fruit to students and a longer shelf life.
