Brambleberry Mulled Wine

A medley of strawberries, blueberries and dark sweet cherries are simmered in a mulled wine infused with warm spices of cinnamon, clove, ginger and cardamom.

Brambleberry Mulled Wine INGREDIENTS:

20 each Cloves, whole
4 each Cinnamon sticks
2 Tablespoons Green cardamom pods, cracked
6 Tablespoons Ginger, whole, ⅛” slices
1.5 liters Shiraz
3 cups Apple cider
2 cups DOLE® Chef-Ready Blackberry Frozen Purée, thawed
2 cups Frozen DOLE Whole Blueberries
4 cups Frozen DOLE Dark Sweet Cherries
2 cups DOLE Chef-Ready Cuts Diced Strawberries

Brambleberry Mulled Wine Directions:

  1. In a large sauce pot, combine whole cloves, cinnamon sticks, green cardamom pods, ginger, Shiraz, apple cider and blackberry purée. Bring to a low simmer over low heat.
  2. Let mixture simmer for 10 minutes; remove from heat.
  3. In a large pitcher, add frozen blueberries, cherries and diced strawberries. Using a strainer, pour mulled wine over frozen berries to cool rapidly.
  4. Place beverage in refrigerator to cool completely.

TO SERVE:

  1. Pour 8-12 fl. oz. in a microwavable container.
  2. Warm 1-2 minutes on high; stir and serve.
